presentation

Ceramist Nadia Pasquer moved to La Borne, a village of potters in the Berry region of France, in the early 1970s. Modelling quickly replaced throwing, which she had been doing until then. In the early 90s, she radicalised her approach, adopting an economy of means: one clay, two or three engobes, basic tools and firing with sawdust.

The artist then moved on from ovoid shapes to spheres and multi-sided geometric forms. "The move towards the sphere and Platonic bodies such as the cube, octahedron, tetrahedron, dodecahedron and icosahedron, which are themselves inscribed in the sphere, was a very natural one, since I was moving towards a renewal of forms. I was developing an interest in geometric volumes, their cosmological significance and the vibratory qualities they transmit.

The installation on display was designed specifically by the artist for the cloister of the Psalette. Its shapes, similar to crystals, cut stones and spatial objects, take the form of a constellation on the floor of the cloister bookshop.

the Ar(t]chipel festival

For the 3rd year running, the AR(t]CHIPEL festival will be showcasing contemporary creation in the Centre-Val de Loire region.

The brainchild of a unique partnership between the Centre Pompidou and the Centre-Val de Loire Region, this original festival invites you to discover today's art in a different way: by pushing open the doors of artists' studios, visiting exhibitions, or admiring works from the Centre Pompidou installed near you, in the heart of towns and countryside.

AR(t]CHIPEL is also a rare opportunity to discover private collections or creative spaces that are usually closed to the public, such as artists' residences.

The rich and surprising programme takes us back to the history of the region, between the Renaissance and modern times. Ever since Leonardo da Vinci, the spirit of creation has blown across the banks of the Loire, through the forests of Berry and at the foot of the cathedrals, and continues to inspire today's artists.

Whether you're an art lover or simply curious, with family or friends, let AR(t]CHIPEL surprise you with a festival like no other!

The festival is curated by Anne-Laure Chamboissier.
